DERİCİ MUSTAFA GÜRBÜZ (1909-2001)

He was born in Kuşadası  in 1909 as a son of Mr. Hüseyin and Mrs. Meleke whom were Cretan.  When his father died, he was 13. Hence he had to quit his education to contribute  the budget of his family. Then he went to a night school having understood the importance of education for his career. His purpose was to be honest, hardworking and excellent.With his innovations in leather field, he always succeeded in producing the best leather. He made lots of contributions for the fame of the Kuşadası’s tanneries. As his leathers were sold in very high prices, he became a wealthy person. He was one of  the first tourism investor  of Kuşadası, who  utilized his wealth by making true investments.

      Derici Mustafa Gürbüz Anatolian High School  is his last and most proudful investment. On 9th October 1997 the protocol of the school was signed and the  foundation was laid on  6th March 1988, and then  the building was  completed and donated to  the National  Ministry of Education.   

     Mustafa Gürbüz was one of the rarest and open-minded person  who could foresee the future and influence the future of Kuşadası.  This great person will always live in our hearts.  We wish God’s mercy and grace to him whose name is still alive in his great works.   

 

ZEHRA GÜRBÜZ

  

She is the second daughter of Fatma-Hasan couple who came to Turkey in the way of exchanging. She is the granddaughter of the judge of Girit.   In 1938, she graduated from Mahmut Esat Bozkurt Primary school, in1943.She married   Mustafa Gürbüz and has a son and three daughters. Zehra Gürbüz, being a lover of education and  interested in it  very much, learnt how to read Koran and took driving licence in her 60s,saying that “there is no age of learning”. Having been  a very good sportswoman  in her  training time, Zehra Gürbüz gave great importance to the construction of the indoor sports hall of the school with the conscious of sports  being inevitable in education and financed  the sports halls ’to  build with great sacrifices.

   Adopting the principle that “Anyone who use his body well will also use his brain well”, she believed that sports activities will be the way of success.

   Zehra Gürbüz  wants  the students of Derici Mustafa Gürbüz Anatolian High School to be the people knowing how to use their times and expressing   their thoughts and feelings independently, being respectful, creative, realist and hardworking. She  wishes all the students health and success.
